Inventory for a working factory
Run material receipts, inspection, stores and production issues in one Optiwise workflow. Your storekeeper sees where the material is, quality records its disposition, and your planner works from the quantity available for the job.
Suppose you order 100 pieces and receive 75. With mandatory inspection, those 75 wait for quality release. If 70 pass and five are rejected, 25 have not arrived and five need a return or replacement decision. You have 70 accepted pieces, leaving a usable gap of 30 if all 100 are still needed.
Issue 60 accepted pieces to a job and return four unused pieces to stores: the stores balance becomes 70 − 60 + 4 = 14 pieces. The net issue of 56 pieces is separate from the job's recorded consumption. These are illustrative quantities, not a customer result.
Record the delivered quantity against the purchase order. When the item requires mandatory quality inspection, keep it unavailable until that inspection is completed. Record accepted and rejected quantities separately.
Give each item a consistent code and unit. Record its rack or bin and any batch reference your process needs, so the next person can find it.
Link the issue to the job or work order. A move from stores to the shop floor changes the location; record actual consumption as its own event.
Record unused material returned to stores, scrap and finished goods. Check the physical balance before correcting a difference, and retain the reason.
